***CELEBRATION INFORMATION FOR 2024 - 8TH GRADE DANCE***

Hello 8th Grade Parents!

The time has come for the annual 8th Grade Celebration! This year’s theme, voted on by the students, is "Hollywood Red Carpet". We are so excited for this event and we know the kids are getting excited as well. We wanted to send out an email that will give you, the parents, some important information that will help us make the event run smoothly. Please read this entire email as it contains lots of helpful information. Thank you!

1. The dance will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 7pm-10pm at Cedar Valley Middle School.

  • Drop-off - Students should be dropped off on the Racine side of the school, outside of the athletics (last) entrance. This will be clearly marked on the day of the dance.
  • Pick-up - Students who wish to leave early (before 10pm) must be picked up and checked out by their guardian. All remaining students will be released at the end of the dance (10pm) and will not need to be checked out by a guardian. Please arrive by 10pm to pick up your child. You may wait in the 2 lanes available on the Racine side of the school.
  • The dance is for Cedar Valley Middle School 8th graders ONLY. Students from other grades or schools will not be allowed into the dance. Parents can only attend as confirmed volunteers (volunteer here).
2. Invitation/Tickets:

  • Students will receive an invitation via email in the near future. This invitation will have a QR code that they will scan (there will also be a URL if they would prefer to type it into a browser). Once they scan the QR code they will be taken to the Eventbrite site where they will enter their information to reserve a free ticket. IMPORTANT: Students will need to use an email address that is NOT their school email address, otherwise, they will not receive the email with their ticket.
  • Reserving their ticket by May 3rd will enter the student into the door prize raffle.
3. Check-In:

  • After reserving their ticket on Eventbrite, students will receive the ticket with a QR code on it via email. They will present this QR code to the check-in attendants who will then scan it. This will validate their ticket and allow them entrance into the dance. This is our second year using Eventbrite for the 8th Grade Dance and it speeds up the check-in process tremendously.
  • If students would rather not reserve their ticket online or they decide at the last minute to come to the dance, they will still be able to check in with their name at the front door.
4. Activities:

  • Students will get to enjoy a DJ, karaoke, 360 camera, photo opportunities, door prizes (tickets reserved via Eventbrite by May 3rd will qualify for the door prize raffle), free food, and much more!
5. Dress code:

  • The dress code for the dance is semi-formal. Please keep in mind that students will be at school and should be dressed appropriately.
6. How you can help!

  • We are in need of volunteers and donations! We provide this event at no cost to students, and parents like you help us make this possible. We will need volunteers for set up, take down, chaperones, food tables, check-in and more. Keep in mind that teens are also welcome to help with set up and take down shifts (must be an adult to work the actual dance). We are also in need of items ranging from sodas to sharpies. 7. Short on time? Rather help monetarily?

If you have any questions regarding the dance, please reach out to the dance committee at 8thgradedance@cevmspta.org.
